Get Lost to Find Your Purpose

What does a reality television host have to do with Conscious Capitalism? A lot.

The host is Phil Keoghan. He’s been around the world 33 times for the TV program The Amazing Race. In addition to this show, he is now on the third season of a new program that he conceived. Tough As Nails celebrates blue collar workers.

Phil is a thought leader who changes how we view others – other cultures and our essential workers. He brings a profound respect that honors people.

Here is where Conscious Capitalism comes in.

There’s another aspect of Phil Keoghan’s values that he shared in a book he wrote — No Opportunity Wasted. His message: Life is to be seized robustly. We can shake off the limiting beliefs that hold us back. Our lives have a purpose to be fulfilled.

Phil got the message when he almost died. He converted his near death experience into his own life purpose – to ditch excuses and live life fully.  And to share this with others.

Phil produced a TV show called No Opportunity Wasted.  The format asked people to write about their stories – what they would like to achieve in their lives. And he noticed that there were eight themes to their stories. So he wrote a book that shares the stories of others who have pursued these themes.

What are these themes? Face your fears. Get lost (to find yourself). Take a leap of faith. Shed your inhibitions and express yourself. Break new ground. Rediscover your childhood. Aim for the heart.

Now Phil gets others to discover their individual purpose in a workshop. Perhaps I should call it a journey. The workshop takes participants on an adventure to the South Pole where they experience each of the eight themes and reflect on what it means for their life. It’s a fun and engaging workshop.

Conscious Capitalism exhorts organizations to find their purpose. No Opportunity Wasted helps employees find their purpose.
