My journey to conscious capitalism started with skepticism. I need to see it to believe it. How could a company who operates consciously be more profitable? If it were true, this would integrate my management consulting skills with a parallel career as a serial do-gooder.

To answer this question, I visited a Conscious Company’s plant to learn the incredible power of treating employees like family. There at Barry-Wehmiller, I found a private three billion dollar group of companies that has built so much trust that employees are thrilled to come to work, volunteer to cover when others need help, share the tricks of their trade, and are so nimbly cross-trained that they can take on work from another Barry-Wehmiller plant that needs extra hands. 

I found my calling – to use my management consulting skills to develop conscious companies to reach their higher purpose and to be the place where all stakeholders thrive.

I went all in. I spent a year earning a certification as a consultant in Conscious Capitalism.

I also have a current certification in Talent Development, and received a Lifetime Volunteer Achievement Award from the Association for Talent Development.

Over 40 years, I have been the trusted advisor to many companies and CEOs, and the guru to a couple of industries. (Clients) Now I work with small and mid-sized public and private companies to create a robust conscious culture.

I am a bugle for Conscious Capitalism. Currently, I am working to:

• Design a semester-long course in Conscious Capitalism for a Big Ten university.

• Catalyst for collaboration between Conscious Capitalism Inc. and the Association for Strategic Planning.

• Redesign the certification chapter on Change Management.

• Develop an operating system that supports the processes in a conscious company.

I continue to learn from the wisdom of leaders and CEOs who share their personal journeys to higher purpose.
